Tri, Tri, Tri again

Last year I competed in the Logan Sprint Tri. This year I decided to do it again. I am very sad to say that no I did not beat last years time, what is up with that? I was glad that I tried again, but really really wish I had put forth more effort to beat my time. My next race is in Sept. I am doing a all womens race in Herriman. The first Tri the new Herriman rec. center is putting on. I have to really push to improve. Here I am with my Sister, Stephanie, next year she is going to compete with me??
More of my Cheer leaders, Alex and Ethan. Chad stayed home to be with Jordan who had just broke his toe and could not walk around on it.
I did the best on swim.. 53rd out of 100. swam 500 meters in 13.21 minuets
Running not to bad.
the bike was the worst I came in at almost the bottom of the pack:(
I love the above picture... I just think it is cute.

The Wax Museum

Another trip to the Emergency Room.

So, last night Jordan goes to young men's. They were playing ultimate Frisbee at a park one block away. About 8:00 I get a call from his leader saying that Jordan stubbed his toe really bad and would probably not be able to walk home. I drove to pick him up. He said it hurt, but not that bad. I asked if he needed to go to the doctors and he said he did not think so. I had been ready to go on a bike ride and since Jordan seemed not to be in a lot of pain I, got him ice elevated the foot and then left for my ride. Later that night I took another look his toe. The toe was looking pretty bad, kind of bent in a weird shape and was bleeding a little. We covered it up, iced it some more and decided that I would take him to the doctors the next morning, thinking it was probably broken.

Today I took Jordan into Urgent Care at the hospital and sure enough it was a pretty bad break, Clear through, kind of like a broken stick. the bone had actually broke through the skin and that is why it had been bleeding. The bone worked its way back under the skin so it was not poking out at the time. Poor kid I felt so bad for going on my bike ride instead of taking him right into the urgent care the night before. So the urgent care doctor tries to reset it twice and the bones won't go back together. The doctor called the on call orthopedic doctor and sent us to the adjoining hospital to see him. The doctor said Jordan may need surgery that same day and would probably need a pin put in his toe. Chad came home from work and my Dad took Ethan for the day and Alex went to gym so the other kids were all taken care of. I was preparing to be at the hospital all day. When the Orthopedic doctor came in he numbed Jordan's toe again and tried once again to reset it. This time it worked!!! Yeah no surgery required. It was a little gross watching the doctor manipulate Jordan's poor swollen black and blue toe. Jordan has to stay completely off of the foot until Monday when I take him back in and then we will see what is happening and if the toes stayed in place after being reset. They gave him a medication for infection, because I guess if the bone was exposed at all it can get infected pretty easily. He was suppose to have a tennis match today, but tennis is out for awhile that's for sure.

A very bad day

Last Monday the 20th of June started like any other day, Jordan tennis, Ethan school, Alex to gym and me to work. I was on lunch break when my phone rang, caller ID said it was Alex's coach, Jami. I thought that's weird why is Jami calling in the middle of practice. Jami said Alex had a accident on the tramp doing a double back and had hurt her neck and back and needed to go to the hospital. This is not something a Mother wants to hear. My heart sank. I rushed out of work and to her gym. The two are really close, so it only took me 5 min. But, my heart was in my stomach imagining what could be the effects of a neck or back injury. I became very emotional and almost cried on the way. So many thoughts were rushing through my mind. But, I do remember having a peaceful feeling deep inside. Well, I arrived and Alex was laying on the trampoline awake and talking. The coaches had been monitoring her and did not move her off the trampoline where the accident had occurred. She was having a hard time moving her limbs and squeezing my hand or feeling pinches. I felt sick inside and said a whole bunch of silent prayers. I wanted to cry right there, but did not want to cause Alex any more worry or make her scared in any way. I remember thinking I wanted to get her to the hospital as fast as possible. The ambulance came and strapped her in a neck brace and backboard, so she could not move, it was such a very hard thing to wittiness. I had the awful thought that maybe Alex, my very active, physical daughter may end up paralyzed in someway. When I asked Alex to squeeze my hand she just moved her fingers very slightly. When asked to move her leg, it just moved a fraction of a inch and she thought she was moving it alot. I honestly thought that she may be paralyzed in some way. It was a nightmare imagining her in a wheelchair. When we got to the hospital and into a room, I had a second to run to the rest room, because I felt like I may puke. I had time alone to pray and boy did I plead that she would be ok. Alex's sweet coach came to the hospital also and was with us most of the time. By the time the doctor came in she was doing better and had all the feeling back and could move fine. She had a bunch of xrays and the doctor found noting to cause real worry. I felt so much gratitude and relief. She has been very sore this week and has of course not gone to gym. Alex is dying to get back to practice and back to the gym. She had a hard time being down for a week and was bored out of her mind. She watched a lot of movies, tv, facebook and even read a little. She loves gymnastics. I am not so sure about it, I think I will have a hard time watching her at gym and during competitions. I was so thankful for Heavenly Father protecting her and helping her. Alex has always been a daredevil and She has been protected so many times in her life from physical harm, I know without a doubt someone is watching over her. Chad was up flying at the time and the hospital had very bad cell coverage, so by the time he arrived at the hospital we were just leaving. My dear friend and VTeacher brought us dinner that night. Although I told her we were fine, I was very grateful for it, I felt so emotionally drained that day.

Jordans Samoa Project

This is a project Jordan and a classmate did for a Geography class at school. It was all about Samoa, he did a great job on it.

Herriman High Tennis

Jordan made it on the Herriman High tennis team this year. Herriman High just opened this year, so this is the very first Herriman High tennis team. It is exciting having a brand new high school. Jordan will attend the high next year. Here are some pictures of Jordan playing tennis.

The 3rd grade spelling bee

Ethan is in the third grade at His Elementary School. In the school there are 4 different year round tracks and two to three classes per track with a total of 9. Every class sent their two top spellers to represent the class in the spelling bee. Ethan is the top speller in his class so he was chosen to compete in the bee. Here he is at the beginning of the spelling bee with the top 18 spellers in the third grade.
One by one the kids got eliminated and then there were two, Ethan and Abby.
So Ethan ended coming in 2nd out of the entire third grade. Here he is with his teacher Mrs. Lewis, who is a wonderful teacher.
Here Ethan is with his medal. Way to go Ethan. Now Mom can ask you how to spell different words. The final word he missed was heritage which he spelled herritage.

Happy Birthday Ethan.

On May 9th Ethan celebrated his 9th birthday. Nine years ago we were in Palo Alto picking him up at LDS Family Services. We are so glad to have him in our family, what a fantastic kid he is. We love watching him in sports, school activities and what ever he is intrested in. He loves using his creative mind to build and create things out of legos, trash, or whatever he can find. We love our Ethan.

Pinewood Derby

For the past few weeks Chad and Ethan have been working on Ethan's pinewood derby. Ethan wanted to do a Tank, so here is the final project.
I am the Webelos leader and made these drivers licenses for all the boys who are a cub scout. It took a lot of time, but the boys loved them. Every boy got their own license with their picture on it.

Here I am working at the Utah DMV passing out the licenses.

All the spectators of the races got to vote on their favorite car. Ethan won the best of show. Here he is with his certificate.

Marks 40th Birthday Cake

My brother in law Mark turned 40 last month and so over Easter dinner we had a cake for him. He is really big into cycling, so I made the cycling cake. Notice how the guy on the bike goes from sitting upright to flat tires and then to crashing. My neice Chelsea came up with the flat tire idea and Chad helped me with cutting out the biker guy.
