Visit to the Woodlands- Day one

We left to visit my sister Julie after church Sunday. The short four hour trip turned into over six. We along with several others got stuck in a very bad storm and traffic slowed, then came to a stop. I was sitting there with the kids in the van with hail, rain and wind pounding down on us. There was actually a tornado about 1/2 mile ahead of us that broke some utility poles onto a semi, which hit another car, thus causing the traffic jam. We were completely stoped for about 1 1/2 hours.
This is a picutre of one of the several utility lines that was broke in two. half is in the road, the other half is standing on the other side of the road.
The traffic.

I am ready...

Saturday I biked 6 miles(36min), ran 3 miles (38min-12.66 per mile) and swam 780 meters (35 min). I am ready to try a tri. I was hoping to do one this weekend, but that is not going to work out. I think I will do one Memorial Day, by then I should have a new bike and maybe be a little faster at the events. I am really slow at all three, but it is good just to know that I can do it.

What a funny guy I married.

Chad and his brother Jody are applying to be on the Amazing Race. Today he filled out the application and some of the answers were so funny I just had to post them. Here are a few...

-How did you and your teammate meet? Our mom introduced us the day she brought me home from the hospital. Of course, I am a little hazy on the details- after all, I was only 1 day old.

-What is the biggest disappointment you have experienced from your teammate? He is uglier than me. It is a burden he has had to bear all his life. But, I would not really consider that a disappointment-just sad.

-How did you resolve it? Can't be resolved- that much plastic surgery would be financially crippling....

-What is your biggest pet peeve about your partner? As I mentioned previously- he is pretty ugly. But, I have learned to deal with it.

-What country and place would you most like to visit and why? I would love to visit New Zealand. I have always wanted to see the lands where Frodo and Gandalf once roamed...

-Do you speak or read any foreign languages? if so, which ones? 1.Spanish, not a lot, just enough to order off a menu and get directions. 2.Pig Latin, very fluent (eryvay uentflay-see?)

What a funny guy I married............

The end of Tennis Camps

Jordan had his last tennis camp. During the camp, the coaches gave the kids nicknames. Jordans nickname was Pedro. We happend to have a "Vote for Pedro" t-shirt from Halloween pasts and so Jordan wore it to tennis camp and the coaches got a big kick out of it.

The cast

Well, Alex broke her toe last week and ended up getting a full cast on her leg up to her knee. The doctor did this mostly for her toes protection. If you know Alex, you know that she has a hard time taking it easy and not doing adventurous stuff. Most likely she would do something to the toe again and make the injury worse. The other day she was doing front rolls down an inflatable waterslide in her cast. Thank goodness for waterproof casts!!!! And yes she still attends gymnastics, but only 20 hours a week not 26.

Just another day in Paradise

Yesterday I was able to attend a baptism, I left with a great feeling, thinking it was going to be a wonderful day. On the way home Alex called and said I was not going to want to know what happened. Come to find out Jordan had turned on his upstairs bathtub to clean it. For some reason it ended up being plugged and he left Ethan in charge of making sure it did not overflow. Well both forgot about it and their bathroom flooded. When I got home they were trying their hardest to get all the water soaked up with towels. Water was dripping below to the garage and into the laundry room. Luckily we have a carpet cleaner that I used to suck up water with. Then I ripped up the carpet and put fans under it. This same thing happend last year when Alex left the sink in that bathroom on and it flooded. I think it will be fine.
Well while everything was drying out I was helping Alex with a project and she was doing her usual flipping around, standing on hands, ect. She flipped her legs up and bam, they came down on the back of the couch. I actually heard a crack. She was in a ton of pain and even crying, she is not one to cry and can withstand pain pretty well. I ended up taking to urgent care and her toe has a bad break in it. She has a boot and will need to see a orthopedic Doctor with in the next few days.
Chad missed out on all the fun, because he was on his way home from San Diego.

Proud American!!!!

I love the 4th of July. It reminds me how grateful I am that I am a citizen of the United States of America. I can vote, worship the way I choose, my children are getting a good education, We have freedom of speech, I can support whichever political party we choose, our health care is far above that in most countries, I live in a comfortable house, have a fantastic family, and the list could go on and on. How blessed we are to live in the best country in the world, others flock to it and we were lucky enough to be born here. Wow, what a great and wonderful thing it means to be an American!!!!

Haslet Heat

Ethan was able to play on an All Star T-Ball team called Haslet Heat. The team put in a lot of practice and played in two tournaments. Ethan has enjoyed the season and looks forward to Fall when he will play coach pitch ball. Doesn't he just have that ball player look? Love the gum sticking out of the mouth!
