Cousins, Cousins, and more Cousins

Chad's brother Shaun and his family came for a visit and pretty much we swam the whole time. Once again, it is too hot in Texas to do any other activities-- 100+ degrees plus humidity. We had a blast! It was good to see everyone again.
In between all the swimming, we went to Let's Jump. Which is an indoor play area.

The girls: Alex, Sara, Hannah, and Alena.

Visit from the cousins

On the 19th of June Chad's brother Jody and his family came for a visit. Since it is unbearably hot in Texas right now, we did a lot of swimming. Below you will find Chad with my swim shorts on his head, what a weirdo! This is Alex, Jordan, and Christian

Another fun thing we did: Chad borrowed his friend's Cessna 172 airplane. We all took turns going for a ride in the plane. Well, I did not go up for a ride, or else we would be steam cleaning the plane if you know what I mean. Blah, Blah.
This is a helicopter that Chad flies. We all went to Chad's work and took a look at all the different aircraft that he flies.

Summer coins

Last week we started our summer coin earning. Each child has a container that holds their coins. They can earn coins for doing extra jobs which I have made up small cards for, examples are: cleaning baseboards, light switches, washing walls, cleaning kitchen cabinets, polishing wood furniture, etc. They can also earn coins in non job ways like reading a book, doing a book report, crossword puzzles, a Faith in God activity, doing a puzzle, memorizing a scripture, etc. They use these coins to buy time on the computer, watching tv, going to a movie or playing video games - 1 coin equals 15 min of time. I can also take coins away when I find their stuff on the floor, when they are rude, do not do jobs when asked, or if they bug me too much. I think this is the 4th year we have done this and so far it works out pretty good. At the end of summer or when we go on vacation they can cash in their coins for cash, one coin is worth 25 cents.

Jordan NHJS

Jordan got accepted into the National Junior Honor Society. Here are some pictures of the ceremony.

Alex goes from elementary school to middle school

Friday was Alex's 5th grade promotion. Alex received, the highest adverage for social studies, math and language arts awards in her 5th grade class. The award she is most proud of is the athletic award which the PE teacher gave her. We are proud of you Alex! There were parents crying in the audience, I am proud to say that I was not one of them! It is only 5th grade, High School may be a different story.

Schools out, lets party!!

Today we celebrated the last day of school. I let the kids each invite 10 friends to a party (of course not all could come). Ethan's friends came from 1-3 and then Alex and Jordan's friends came from 4-7. Lame me, I did not get any pictures of Ethan's party. They jumped on the trampoline, ate pizza, swam, played video games, had a water balloon fight, and did the slip and slide. It was a lot of work, but the kids had a lot of fun.

Ethan

Two big things in Ethan's life. First he lost his two front teeth, this makes eating corn on the cob very hard. Second he was picked to try out for the T-ball all star team and made the team. Go ETHAN!!!!
