This is in response to a video I watched called "I Pledge"

This is what I think about the video that Demi Moore came up with called "I pledge" You can watch it on You Tube.

I watched the video and yes, I agree that we all need to be kinder and care about others, that’s what being a good Christian or American Citizen means. Take out all the political propaganda (which there was a lot of) and keep it basic, love and help your neighbor, and it would actually be an good message. I am all for helping others around me, This is why I do not hesitate to donate money to charity through my church organization, I know it is being spent to feed, clothe, and give homes to the less fortunate. One of the points that bugs me, besides the political view inserted into the video is that it was done by celebrities. I believe that each one of these actors or actresses got paid a substantial amount of money to appear on this video. Their appearances are not free, and always come at a price. I would also like to know how much money they donate toward these funds, to end Alzheimer’s, world hunger, slavery, etc. They live in Hollywood mansions or huge homes around the globe, travel around the world, go on expensive vacations, have expensive nannies, housecleaners, drivers, etc. they spend, spend, spend. What percent of their income is donated to really help the world be a better place? I would bet it is a very small percentage. Bunch of hypocrites!! After living in California near Hollywood in the past, I have realized that I do not and will not ever respect the majority of actors and actresses. They have inflated self worth, and haughty attitudes, and constantly put themselves above mainstream Americans. They seem to exhibit “The listen to me I am famous” attitude. I do not value, nor will I ever value the same things they value. How much time to each of the people shown in this video spend doing volunteer work, when there are no cameras present? Is this all publicity or actual caring? How many of the celebrities actually raise their own children, instead of have nannies do their job? Do these celebrities live amongst the middle class? Do they actually know firsthand the hardships that American families go through? Do they understand what living on a budget means? I 100 percent agree to pledge to make the world better, but this message needs to be taught in families, by parents, grandparents, church leaders, community workers, etc Not the Hollywood elite. Have it taught by someone our children should look up to.
I also am disappointed with a political message being mixed in with a love your neighbor, make the world a nicer place message. It is a sneaky maneuver to slide in stem cell research, and other political views. This is a total propaganda video. At least let the parents preview the video first, before it is show in schools, especially elementary schools. Should not we as parents be given the right to know what our children are being taught and shown in school?
I certainly do not pledge my self to Barrack Obama. “I pledge allegiance to The United Sates of America”.
Oh, I also pledge to never have a nanny raise my children. Or to ever say the Texas pledge, I dislike that also.
